Profenid Gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with the active substance Ketoprofen in a dosage of 2.5 mg. Gel for external use has the following actions:
• antipyretic (due to inhibition of the activity of cyclooxygenase -1 and cyclooxygenase-2.

Indications for use of Profenid Gel
Profenid Gel is prescribed for the following disorders and diseases:
• inflammation of the musculoskeletal system in acute and chronic form;

Inflammation of the musculoskeletal system includes diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, articular syndrome with exacerbation of gout, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteochondrosis with radicular syndrome, radiculitis, inflammatory damage to ligaments and tendons, bursitis, sciatica, lumbago.

You should refrain from using Profenid Gel in the following cases:
• hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or other components of the drug;

Dosage and administration

The following side effects may occur during the use of the drug: allergic dermatitis, urticaria, eczema, generalized skin rash, skin hyperemia, edema, photodermatitis, photosensitivity, bullous dermatitis, exanthema, stomatitis, purpura.

Interaction with other medications
It is not recommended to use other NSAIDs for external use. The simultaneous administration of acetylsalicylic acid reduces the degree of binding of Ketoprofen to plasma proteins.
Ketoprofen, like other NSAIDs, can reduce the excretion of methotrexate and increase its toxicity.

When using, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Damaged skin areas should be avoided: abrasions, scratches, wounds. The gel is not used for occlusive dressings.
During application of the gel, the treated skin should be protected from UV exposure. The appearance of photosensitization is possible.
